About Dr Diarmuid O’Malley

Dr Diarmuid O’Malley is an Irish trained breast surgeon, who has been living and working in Melbourne since 2011. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1998. Dr O’Malley completed basic and higher surgical training prior to achieving his intercollegiate fellowship qualification in general and breast surgery (FRCS Gen Breast) in 2011.
Following general surgery training, Dr O’Malley completed 2 years post fellowship subspecialty training at the Royal Women’s and Royal Melbourne Hospitals. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and is a member of the BreastSurgANZ Society.
Dr O’Malley has a post graduate Medical Doctorate degree for his thesis which was published following full-time laboratory-based cancer research. He has presented his scientific and clinical research on ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast, both nationally and internationally.
Dr O’Malley has public hospital consultant appointments at the Royal Women’s Hospital and BreastScreen Victoria as well as locum appointments at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital. Diarmuid has rooms in Parkville, Richmond and Malvern and operates privately at Frances Perry House (Royal Women’s Hospital), Epworth Freemason's Hospital, Cabrini Malvern and Cabrini Brighton.
In his spare time, Diarmuid likes to relax with his wife and children. He enjoys watching his daughter’s gymnastics and he can be regularly found at the local cricket nets with his son who is a promising young all-rounder.
